My Third Puncture in over 200,000km

So riding along today 'happy as larry' (in the pouring rain and single digit temperatures) when I see my dash  lights go all cray cray.

Red and amber lights are flashing at me in a pretty convincing manner so I eased off the gas and took a moment to interpret. Long story short - my rear tyre was low on air. (How good are tyre pressure Monitors!!!) meaning only one thing - a puncture.

Most people would think Ruh Roh but not me, I had two reasons to be happy:

  1. I would finally get to test out my emergency tyre plugging kit
  2. I'm fitting a new Heidenau on the rear next week so who cares
With the pressure in the low 20s and me still closer to home than work I limped the bike home.

Within about 15 minutes I had the wheel off, the screw removed, the hole reamed out, the plug inserted and the tyre once again holding 40PSI.

My first puncture was a thin piece of metal filing in the rear tyre of my 2008 Z1000
My second puncture was another screw in the rear tyre of my old Harley Street Bob

You gotta pay to play.

Until next time.......
