Air intakes

The dropped pie already comes fitted with a set of Vance & Hines big shots like I ran on my old bike. But it isn't fitted with an an air intake or a tuner so those are the first two priorities.

The thing with air cleaners is the ones that perform great look like ass. Case in point, the Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather.
I mean i'm sure its functional, I ran dual pod filters and velocity stacks on my 2008 Hypermotard and that thing sounded like an animal when it was revving on song. These have always looked like a bit of an afterthought to me.

I ran the Barking Beagle Ventilator on my old bike, it was fine, a little on the large side and I really don't want the same again.

Some other options I considered, most are around half the price of the heavy breather.

Figure Machine TCFLOW-R5 CLASSIC - 5 Inch Filter

Joker Machine Big Twin High Performance Air Cleaner Assembly - 4 Inch Filter

S&S Teardrop Air Cleaner

The problem is all these air intakes vent crank case gases (and blow back oil) down into the throttle body. Some model harles blow back more oil than others. My old Dyna was pretty solid but I've seen some tourers where its been a real problem. Enter DK Customs

DK Customs "Sano Black Powder HiFlow-587"

Simple, big but not too big, understanted and with the real bonus (for about $20 extra) it also comes with the option to fit a breather system allowing you to route the vented air externally. Either to a filter or to a catch can.
You can see the breather below the air intake
All this for under $200 US - I was sold so I also threw in a set of DK Customs Riser extensions for under 30 bucks.

Can't wait to pickup the bike, have all this gear come in, start fitting it all and most importantly RIDE.
