Almost Stranded

Sometimes things go wrong and you can't do a damn thing about it. Such was almost the case for me earlier this week. I was aboard the Dyna when I felt the hint of a wobble in the rear wheel. Just a gentle shimmy but out of place and cause for concern nonetheless.

I detoured to a nearby car park and inspected the rear wheel for signs of damage, wear, anything out of place. I gave it a shake with my hand and there was play. It almost felt like swingarm play or a wheel bearing. Either way bad news.

Luckily I was only a short distance from Rosnars so I babied the bike there for assessment. Matt was as always great and dropped everything to check it out. After a few minutes on the lift suspicions were confirmed that my drive side bearing had shit the bed and the ABS side was notchy. The casing fell out when Matt removed the wheel and he also noted that the carrier was cracked as well.

After a short time on the hammer and chisel and also the welder the perpetrator was removed and all three bearings replaced before I was back on the road and even made it to work before lunch time.

As always 10/10 service from Matt and an absolute pleasure to deal with. It was also good shooting shit with him over my plans for a second Harley.
