Dirty Dyna 2.0
I don't think I know too many people who have purchased the same bike twice, i'm not talking two Ducatis or Beemers i'm talking the same or very similar model. I've never even owned two motorcycles of the same make. Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Ducati, Harley & BMW.
Regardless that is exactly what I plan to do when I pull the trigger on another Harley Davidson Dyna. I'm still on the fence as to whether it will be another Street bob, a Street Bob Special or the Lowrider.
Each model has subtle differences, the Street Bob and the Lowrider come with mid controls, the Lowrider comes with dual front brakes etc This doesn't really change how I plan to setup the bike though.
I'm also still unsure if I'll buy new or used yet but that doesn't stop mr from amassing some of the parts.

Bars
Higher is better but not necessarily 'reach for the sky' high. My old Dyna had 15" Santee Bonanza bars with the grips sitting at around 14" So While not wanting the same bars I certainly want that similar height. For my height it means I can still ride aggressive but also kick back and chill when I want to as well. Currently eyeing off a set of 14 inch bars and 2" risers which should do the trick.
Suspension
If something works stick to it, My legends were one of my favorites upgrades on my old bike so logically it makes sense to stick to the same formula. Only Legend Suspensions now have the Aero and Aero-A with adjustable dampening so I see that as a win. Front end wise I'd like to upgrade the fork springs with either a Progressive monotube kit or something similar performance wise. This also comes down to choice of bike as a starting point. I'm told the Lowrider comes with triple rate front springs where as the street bob doesn't. Small things.
Fit
Forward controls are a must when you're over 6'6". My old scoot was fitted with all HD Silencer series pegs and pedals, I never liked the raw drilled appearance but they worked so I never changed them. For the new ride i'd like to stay with HD and try some Edge cut series pegs and pedals on. For cushioning I'll happily go with another Mustang wide tripper (my third) though this time I will be steering clear of the diamond stitching. As cool as it looked it did let quite a bit of water in when parked in the rain leaving a wet spot on my ass for days after. I don't intend on carry a pillion on this bike so no pillion pegs will be fitted.
Lighting
The HD Daymaker was a welcome upgrade to the old sled but at near 500 clams it was a touch on the expensive side. With similar offerings available for a third of the price the I sourced a daymaker like light from an Aussie forum member for less than half price. I'd also like some sort of auxilary light but its hard when the trying to keep a minimalist style.
Wheels
I'm really torn here. I've seen a sweet Street bob rocking some RSD wheels and while these are a big $$$ item would be a standout among the sea of Street Bobs in Melbourne. But I always have a soft spot for fat spoked wheels. A 21/18 combo is what I always wanted to run on the old Dyna but couldn't.
Paint
Harleys always look best with a gloss black paint job. But after umpteen million trips in the rain and dirt gloss paint tends to show up the abuse. My old Dyna had near worn through the both the clear coat and black base on the tank ends by the time I sold it. It never bothered me because I love how a Harley Davidson ages. But given the choice would I choose gloss black again? Perhaps not.
