Another Harley I wouldn't buy
There had been a bit of hype for over a year now since the moco filed trademark papers registering the name "Sport Glide". Most assumed a trimmed down bagger, some hoped for something reminiscent of the FXRT or maybe even the FXDXT but alas, the Moco seems more focused an replicating Yamahas than they do pleasing their loyal following.
They say Harley owners are a fussy bunch but BMW owners are worse, the difference is that BMW give their existing customers what they want.
I own a dyna and don't really care that they killed off the model but lots of Dyna guys (especially the Bro market in the US) do. THIS was the mocos chance to reel all the dyna clowns, still crying into their corn flakes back in. I still think the monoshock + m8 frame has legs but the moco just seems to be taking blind stabs in the dark for some of these models.
As I've stated before the Moco has gone about it all the wrong way. We should be able to spec these bikes from the frame up from the factory.
Choose your:
Give me the tank and fenders off the Slim, the wheels off the slim (only dual disk) with the suspension off the new fatbob and removable top loading bags (only hard like a tourer) like the Heritage has and slap a decent sized removable fairing on.... I'd part with my hard earned dollars now.
Thats the Sport Glide |
Thats the Yamaha |
It's a shame they came out with this assembly of parts bin items. This new model looks like a breakouts little sister with a cheap chinese ebay fairing and clam shell bags. Really? Clam shell bags have the designers even ridden a motorcycle? Not to mention the single disk front end?? How is that sporty?
Ok so stripped down it looks OK but I'd prefer the switchback. |

No I wouldn't I'd still prefer a Dyna.
Ha-haa, that Yamaha was photographed about 10 or 15 minutes away from my house, in front of The Tavernacle Social Club (a piano bar) in downtown Salt Lake City. :D :D :D Small world, man...
